Hong Kong media reports said that Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Central Secretariat, has taken over the CPC Central Committee's Cyber Security and Informatization Committee.
The Hong Kong South China Morning Post on Thursday (March 28) quoted three official sources in informedness that Xi Jinping had handed over the leadership of the Central Cyber Security and Information Committee to Cai Qi.
Beijing sources said that Cai Qi had taken over the committee in the first half of last year, but the official has not announced the appointment so far.
It is reported that Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, set up a leading group of central network security and informatization in 2014, and expanded into the Central Cyber Security and Informatization Commission in 2018.Xi Jinping has personally led the organization since 2014.
Cai Qi was elected as the Standing Committee of the Politburo (ranked fifth) and the Secretary of the Central Secretariat in the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2022.In 2023, he was also the director of the Central Office and the secretary of the Working Committee of the Central and State Organs.
