Hong Kong teachers' "Chinese ability assessment" will be suspended and changed to IELTS test and national Mandarin level test.

Comprehensive Sing Tao Daily and Ming Daily reported that the Hong Kong Education Bureau announced on Wednesday (March 27) that teachers' "Chinese ability assessment" written test and oral test will be suspended from the 2024/25 school year.The horizontal testing system (IELTS, IELTS) is replaced with the "Putonghua level test of the National Language Working Committee".

The "Class Language Use" evaluation of the Hong Kong Education Bureau is maintained.

According to the communication from the Hong Kong Education Bureau to the school, the overall rating of the teacher's IELTS test must reach level 7.5 or more. In the same transcript, the listening, reading, writing, and spoken language must be achieved.Level below 7.0.In terms of Mandarin, teachers must get secondary or above in the test.

The "Chinese ability evaluation" written test, oral test and "class language use" related results, teachers who meet the requirements of Chinese ability, will continue to recognize.
