The draft regulations proposes that new ways to build a new way to allow qualifications to qualify for non -local trainers to practice in Hong Kong, and introduce the internship and evaluation period to enhance the clinical experience of local dental graduates and non -local trainers.
At present, Hong Kong dentists are seriously insufficient. Only about 0.37 dentists per 1,000 people are far lower than that of mainland China and other advanced economies.The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has increased the local dentist training places four times, but people are still short.
The draft regulations introduce new ways to add qualifications to non -Hong Kong local training dentists, including limited registration of opening to all dentists, and special registration for specialist dentists.
The draft regulations will also be introduced temporary registration, allowing dentists from other jurisdictions to conduct clinical teaching or research in Hong Kong, which does not exceed 14 days.The temporary registered dentist cannot transition to formal registration.
