Comprehensive Hong Kong South China Morning Post and Bloomberg reported that, accompanied by Mei Ruui, the Consul General of the United States in Hong Kong and Macau, met with the members of the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce on the first day of Hong Kong, and visited the University of Chicago in Mo Xingling, Hong Kong.The campus, the next day, visited the Foreign Press Conference and M+Museum.It is reported that during the foreign press conference, Bernus met with the US Consulate and the Director of Foreign Political Conferences.

This is the first visit to Hong Kong after Bernes took the US ambassador to China in 2022.The Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau stated that these meetings marked the routine and long -term policy and management coordination discussions of the US embassies and consulates.

Bernus visited Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Government was doing legislative work on Article 23 of the Basic Law. Western countries were concerned that Article 23 legislation would exacerbate Sino -US relations.
