The Hong Kong Housing Department has strengthened the crackdown on the abuse of public housing, and this fiscal year is expected to withdraw more than 2,200 units.

According to the Hong Kong News Agency, the Hong Kong Housing Department Director Luo Shupei said on Wednesday (January 17) that the first eight and a half months of this fiscal year, the Housing Department has recovered 2,100 abuse and default public housing units.

Luo Shupei said that the Housing Department will continue to combat the abuse of public housing, and will announce new measures as soon as the first quarter. She revealed that the next step will be studied to verify the assets of public housing residents in the mainland and overseas.

In order to make more effective public housing resources, the Hong Kong Housing Department has adjusted the public housing policy since October last year, requiring tenants to declare the living conditions every two years, and whether to apply for residential properties in Hong Kong.

Luo Shupei said that the policy of the Housing Department was effective. After more than 200 households were required to declare, they took the initiative to return to the public housing unit to reflect the determination and results of the bureau to crack down on the abuse of public housing.
