Lai Qingde said that semiconductor is not only the foundation of many industries. It is necessary to develop satellites, drones, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, security and military industries, and to master advanced processes and chips.
He said that the semiconductor industry accounts for 13.1 % of Taiwan's GDP, and nearly 330,000 practitioners, and the output value is the second in the world. These are the result of hard work of entrepreneurs, engineers, and the government.
Lai Qingde said that in the future, Taiwan must not only maintain its advantages, but also strengthen the spillover effect of the industry, so that the semiconductor industry will become Taiwan's key fulcrum for Taiwan to leverage the world.
