She said that the Immigration Bureau has been strictly inspected foreigners who have arrived in the country, especially those who participate in illegal activities.
The Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the embassy and consulate in China received a large number of problematic visa applications, so it was decided to tighten the regulations for Chinese tourists to apply for a visa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the continued tension of China and the Philippines in the South China Sea is not the reason for the government's tightening regulations.
The Philippines refers to some Chinese participating in organizational crimes, such as selling people, prostitution, abduction and fraud, and some illegally work for the Philippine offshore gaming operators.
