A person familiar with the matter revealed that Italian Prime Minister Melonney may be the first to know the United States as early as this week, and its plan to let Italy's decision to withdraw from the "Belt and Road" initiative in China.

Bloomberg Society on Monday (July 24) quoted people familiar with the matter that Melonyne would visit the United States this week. At that time, she would discuss this topic with the other party when she met with the US President Biden. However, insiders said that Italy has not made the final decision on this.

The plan was previously reported by the Italian Media Republic (La Repubblica). The Italian government spokesman refused to comment.

Bloomberg reported in May that the United States has been lobbying in Italy to withdraw from the "Belt and Road", but because of concerns about China's economic revenge, Meloni's diplomatic consultant is still discussing the details and time points of this potential decision.

Italy and China signed a memorandum of understanding in 2019, thereby becoming the only G7 member country to join the “Belt and Road” initiative to date.

According to Reuters Sunday (July 23), Melonney said at a press conference that Biden never mentioned to her the subject of Italy's participation in the "Belt and Road" initiative.
