The Japanese Ministry of Defense plans to strengthen military surveillance on the Pacific, deploy radars and expand patrol fleets to respond to the tension of the Taiwan Strait and China ’s increasing influence in the Pacific region.

The Sankei Shimbun reported on Tuesday (July 25) that the Ministry of Defense of Japan is strengthening the military monitoring base on the Pacific Ocean.Among them, the eastern part of Okinawa County faces the Pacific islands -Peking University East Island will deploy motor warning and radar controlled by the Aviation Self -Defense Force.

It is reported that this deployment is because China advances into the Pacific brush, so the official needs to strengthen the air defense situation.

At present, the Aviation Self -Defense Force's fixed radar has 28 bases across Japan. In the National Defense Construction Plan made in December last year, the Japanese official has proposed to install a mobile radar on Peking University. The official is currently requisitioned for about 8 hectares of land in the northeast of Peking University East Island and southern villages as a barracks and the construction of gunpowder.

Beida East Island is about 360 kilometers east of Okinawa.According to the production of the Sankei News, Japan intends to monitor the situation of the first island chain from Peking University. On one side of the island chain is the islands (known as Diaoyu Islands), which is controversial in Taiwan and sovereignty, and the other side is Okinawa's island, Miyagu Island and Ishigaki Island.

Japan will increase the frigate deployment of early warning aircraft

In addition to deploying radars for early warning and surveillance, Japan also plans to increase the existing three E2D early warning aircraft of the Aviation Self -Defense Force to five. The monitoring range of E2D early warning aircraft is five times larger than the original E2C type.

The Japanese frigates that have been converted into a fighter aircraft will also be deployed around the island to act as a fighter runway on the Pacific Ocean.

The report of the current Affairs News Agency also stated that the Japanese government is exploring the use of Shimi Island Airport, about 350 kilometers from Taiwan for military purposes.

Japan's defense strategy locks from the southern end of Kyushu to the island of Okinawa and the northeast of Taiwan. It is called the "South West Islands".In recent years, Japanese officials have successively deployed the Land Self -Defense Force on individual islands on the South West Islands.

The Japanese Defense Minister Hamada Yingyi attended the opening ceremony of the Ishigaki Island Military Camp a few days ago, saying: "We have completed the plan to fill the military gap of the Southern Western Islands Self -Defense Force, which will enhance the deterrence and response of foreign attacks."

Scholars expressed concern about deployment

However, a series of military deployments in Japan recently aroused concerns of 11 scholars in Japan. They published a future report at the crossroads on Monday (24th), calling on Japanese officials to ease the tension through "non -military means" and not to add fuel on fire.

One of the main writings of the report, Tima Fangxiu, a scholar of Qingying University, said that the Japanese and American security framework is important for Japan, but if Japan only blindly adopts a military confrontation, diplomatic options will be caught in "dead end."

From the long -term perspective, he believes that Japan should discuss the plan with other countries in the region, starting with diplomacy and exploring the way to live peacefully with China. The report calls on the Japanese government to start from the field of economic and environmental protection to achieve the strategic goal of regional sustainable peace.
