The SCO was established by Russia, China and Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2001. India and Pakistan also joined later.
The head of the head of the SCO member state council accepted Iran as a formal member country on July 4 this year, and Iran became the ninth member country of the organization.
