(Perth Comprehensive) Australian Prime Minister Albanis and Japanese Prime Minister Kishita Hideko held summit talks on Saturday (October 22) to agree to strengthen Australian and Japan's defense relations.
This two -country summit talks were held in Perth, the capital of Western Australia.The two leaders signed a security cooperation agreement that updated the 2007 agreement to deal with changes in the regional security environment.
Albanis and Kishida said that the agreement will be the "compass" of bilateral security cooperation in the next 10 years.They agreed to negotiate and study the emergency situation that may affect regional security.
Under the agreement, the two countries will share sensitive information and strengthen defense cooperation.Albanis revealed that Japanese and Australian troops will conduct joint drills in northern Australia.
Kishida said that signing a security cooperation agreement is one of his biggest gains in Australia."I am determined to consider all the necessary national defense options, including counterattack ability, Japan will strengthen defense capabilities in the next five years, which is supported by Albanis."
This is the first visit to Australia since Kishida took office.Kishida pointed out that Australia and Japan have been working hard to achieve freely and open Indo -Pacific regions under the increasingly severe strategic environment.After signing the agreement, the relationship between the two countries will be more firm and become the core pillar of the cooperation of like -minded countries.
In addition, Albanis and Kishida have also discussed the problem of climate change and reached an agreement on further promoting energy cooperation.
