The EU Council announced the launch of the escort operation of the Red Sea and the Persian Bay region to safeguard its business and security benefits.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the EU Council on Monday (February 19) said in a news bulletin that the goal of escort operations was to "restore and maintain freedom of navigation of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf."

According to reports, the action called "Shield" "will ensure the existence of the EU Navy in the region", and is committed to maintaining the safety of the maritime and ensuring the freedom of sailing for merchant ships.
