The Japan Maritime Self -Defense Force Sunday (November 6) held an international ship reading in Kasugawa Bay, Kanagawa Prefecture to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its establishment.Kishida condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine and North Korea recently during the ship reading.
He said: "In the age of a behavior of violating the rules and using force or intimidation to destroy other peace and security actors, we must be prepared."
At present, the Kanada government is amending security -related policies, which may double the defense expenditure of Japan in the next five years, becoming the third highest global military budget after the United States and China.According to SIPRI data from Stockholm International Institute of Peace (SIPRI), the scale of Japanese military budget is currently ranked ninth in the world.
Although Kishida has not named China, it refers to the increasingly severe security situation around Japan, including the East China Sea and the South China Sea.He emphasized that maritime defense is very important for island countries. It is urgent for Japan to improve its naval capabilities, including building new warships, improving missile defense capabilities, and improving the working environment and treatment of military personnel.
He also shows that Japan will adhere to the position of the peaceful country after World War II and ensure that military expenditure is transparent.
This is the second international ship reading after Japan after 2002.A total of 38 ships participated in the ship reading, of which 18 were from 12 countries including the United States, South Korea, Britain, Australia, India, Singapore, and Thailand.
Kishida also appeared on the guard of honor on the Junyun frigates in Japan, and also boarded the US Lidan carrier to meet with the US ambassador to Japan Emmanuel and other senior navy commanders.
