Hong Kong media quoted sources that as Sino -Australian relations will improve before visiting China in Australia's Prime Minister Albanis next week, Canberra will not hinder Beijing to join the Cross Pacific Partner Progress Agreement (CPTPP).

The South China Morning Post on Thursday (October 26) quoted sources saying that Australia "will not oppose China to join CPTPP" and will consider China's application as far as the situation.Sources emphasized that this is not a declaration of escorting China.

This indicates that China has been closer to CPTPP.At present, there are 11 members of CPTPP, including Australia, Canada, Japan and Vietnam.Among them, Japan is considered a major obstacle, and any application for joining CPTPP must be approved by all member states.

Sources added: "(Australia) will not advocate Taiwan to join CPTPP, although the Japanese side pressure."

Mainland China and Taiwan applied to join CPTPP in 2021, butMainland China has always opposed Taiwan to join international organizations based on a Chinese principle.

The South China Morning Post also quoted sources from China Australia and said that both countries agreed to avoid sensitive issues when Albanis met with Chinese officials from November 4th to 7th, and focused on trade issues, such as canceling AustraliaSanctions of wine and lobster.

Sino -Australian relations have previously been cold.In 2020, China imposed tariffs on major export products such as barley, beef and wine, and stopped importing some important products such as coal.Australian law prohibits Huawei from participating in the construction of 5G and has called for independent investigations on the origin of crown disease.
