Honduras, one of the Chinese American countries in Taiwan, is currently at present. CurrentIt is seeking to establish a formal official relationship with mainland China.
According to the tweet published by President of Honduras Xiomara Castro on Tuesday (March 14), Castro has instructed Foreign Minister Eduardo Reina to seek formal establishment with mainland ChinaDiplomatic relations.
Castro said that this marks that she is determined to abide by government plans and expand the freedom of freedom with countries around the world.
Honduras is currently one of the 14 diplomatic countries in Taiwan.When Castro was running for the president in 2021, Castro proposed the idea of breaking diplomatic relations with Taiwan and transferring diplomatic relations with mainland China, but after being elected in January 2022, he also expressed his hope to maintain a relationship with Taiwan.
According to Reuters, the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to understanding the situation, but did not provide more details.
