(Bud City Comprehensive News) Malaysia has officially sent a letter to the BRICS rotating chairman of Russia to apply to join the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anhua on Sunday (July 28) met with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov at the official residence of the Prime Minister.Lavrov showed that Russia would assist Malaysia with appropriate actions.
Anhua posted on Facebook that day, "Malaysia has sent a letter to the BRICS country's rotating chairman Russia and applied to join. Malaysia also shows that they are willing to join as member states or strategic partners."
Lavrov later held a press conference and said: "We support this will. As the chairman's country, (Russia) will help promote this."On June 18 this year, Anwar also stated to Brazilian President Lula that Malaysia would join the wishes of the BRICS country.
BRICS is a cooperation mechanism established in Brazil, Russia, India and China in 2009. South Africa joined in April 2011.In January this year, the BRICS countries expanded their lineups, joined Egypt, Iran, the UAE and Ethiopia, and more than 40 countries also intended to join.In other Southeast Asian countries, Thailand has submitted applications last month, while Indonesia and Vietnam are studying the possibility of joining.
Anwar on Sunday's talks with Rafrov on Sunday also discussed the strengthening of Malaysia -Russian relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, security, national defense, higher education, technology, tourism, and cultureProject.
The two also talked about the situation in Palestine, including Malaysia's call for Gaza to achieve permanent ceasefire and accelerate humanitarian assistance, as well as Palestinian to become the official state of the United Nations.
After Lavrov participated in the Foreign Minister's meeting of Yajian'an and the dialogue partner in Laos last week, he went to Malaysia for two days on Saturday (27th).
Laofrov, headed by Lavrov, held talks with Anwar on Sunday, and met with Malaysia Foreign Minister Mohamadha Mountain, National Defense Minister Cayhowotin, and Higher Education Minister Zanbili.
According to the Russian satellite news agency, Lavrov said at a press conference after meeting with Malaysian leaders that the bilateral trade between the two countries has decreased in the past few years, so this trip discussed how to strengthen bilateral trade.
He said: "In May this year, we signed the latest taxation agreement to avoid double taxation. It will soon take effect, which will help us develop in investment cooperation."
