Hong Kong's social income distribution is not equal, social liquidity is obstructive, and dissatisfaction has accumulated emotional accumulation.The local think tank believes that this has led to the decoupling of Hong Kong youth and social interests, prompting them to go to the streets to demonstrate and vent their dissatisfaction, and cause Hong Kong society to be turbulent.

The Asian Institute of Competitiveness at the School of Public Policy, the National University of Singapore, published a research report at the 2019 Asian Economic Forum yesterday to discuss the economic factors behind Hong Kong's large -scale demonstrations in Hong Kong for nearly three months.

Chen Enterprise, one of the reporters and director of the Institute, emphasized that Hong Kong's current situation cannot be caused by political or economic factors alone, but a combination of the two.

He took the survey by the Institute of Public Opinion in Hong Kong as an example. It was said that although the survey was not cautious enough in the age division of the interviewees, it still reflected that nearly half of the respondents were plagued by the economic environment, more than half of the more than half of the people, and more than half of them were more than half of them.The interviewees were plagued by housing problems, so economic factors played an important role in this social turmoil.

The research team used the Gini coefficient from 1981 to 2016 to combine data such as the area and price of private houses and prices, unemployment rates, and regional GDP (GDP) to analyze factors affecting the influence of social income distribution in Hong Kong.

The research team found that the biggest impact factor of the Gini coefficient that reflects the level of social income distribution is the price of a private house in Hong Kong, and the price of a private house with an area of 100 to 160 square meters increases by 1%.Essence

The proportion of GDP and the number of higher education people has a reverse impact on the Gini coefficient MDASH; MDASH; GDP, the greater the number of GDP, and the more the number of higher education people, the lower the Gini coefficient, and reducing income inequality.

At present, the latest data showed that the Gini coefficient in Hong Kong in 2016 reached 0.539, which is the most disparate region of the rich and the poor in developed economies.The Hong Kong government announced on the 16th of this month that the annual GDP growth forecast was lowered from 2 to 3%to 0 to 1%.

Chen Enterprise pointed out that young people in Hong Kong must compete with elites from the mainland in their work and study, but the opponent is 1%of the 1.4 billion people. Hong Kong young people are only 1%of the top 7 million people, so it is difficult to win.In addition, the high housing prices in Hong Kong make it difficult for young people to buy a house after graduation, the cost of living is getting higher and higher, and social liquidity is blocked.

He said: (These reasons) The young people in Hong Kong are not in the society, nor related to the stakeholders. They have not linked to the interests of the society. Hellip; HelloP;

In response to the current situation, Chen Enterprise also criticized demonstrators to use the 12 -year -old student to protest on the street like Taliban's use of child soldiers, which is not helpful to alleviate the conflict.

The report suggested that the Hong Kong Government should first control the situation to restore the society to stable, and formulate long -term strategies to solve problems such as inequality, housing, and living costs.

The report warns that if these fundamental issues are not resolved, the demonstration will continue to occur in the future, but the demonstrations are promoted by the same fundamental problem.

The forum was co -sponsored by the Asian Institute of Competitiveness and the World Bank Group.
