China regarded it as a model for national foreign economic cooperation.Jiang Zemin once described that Suzhou Industrial Park is the "top priority" of China -Singapore economic cooperation, and it is also a key project of China's foreign cooperation.
Although the early development of this highly valued project is not very smooth, it still lays a solid foundation for the cooperation projects of the two governments, including Tianjin Ecological City and China -Singapore (Chongqing) strategic interconnection demonstration projects.
In fact, before that official visit, Jiang Zemin had left footprints in Singapore in 1980.At that time, Jiang Zemin was the deputy director of the National Import and Export Management Committee of China. He led a group for two weeks to investigate how my country ’s industrial development and understanding how the Economic Development Bureau attracted investment for Singapore.He mentioned in an interview with the Hong Kong Bauhinia magazine 10 years later that the Yulong Industrial Zone in Singapore made him deeply impressed.
