China's marriage registration last year hit a record low since 1986.

The "Civil Affairs Statistics Data" released by the official website of the Ministry of Civil Affairs on June 9 shows that the number of marriage registrations in the country was 6.833 million pairs last year.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, China's wedding data began to decline year by year in 2014.In 2013, it was 13.4693 million pairs. In 2019, it fell below the 10 million -to -large mark, and in 2021, it fell below the 8 million pairs.In 2022, the number of marriage registration nationwide decreased by 803,000 pairs from the previous year, a decrease of about 10.5%.The marriage registration data in the first quarter of this year has not been disclosed.

In terms of divorce registration, according to statistics from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, in 2022, 2.10 million couples registered divorce, a decrease of about 1.8%compared with 2.139 million pairs in 2021.
