The Sri Lanka government ordered soldiers to guard hundreds of gasoline stations in China on Tuesday (March 22) to assist in distribution of fuel.

According to Reuters, the Sri Lankan government's trapped foreign exchange crisis was forced to depreciate currency, so there was no enough funds to buy basic imported goods such as food, medicine and fuel, and required to ask for help from the International Monetary Fund. This also led to the shortage of local supplies in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka officials said that after the three elders queued up to buy fuel to fall to the ground last week, the authorities decided to send soldiers to the gasoline station and kerosene supply point to assist in distributed fuel.

The Sri Lanka military spokesman Primarani said that each gasoline station will have at least two soldiers stationed to help distribute fuels and not participate in the maintenance of the scene.

The Sri Lanka government spokesman Padrana said that after the government complained that the merchant's stocks and uneven distribution, the government made a decision to send soldiers."Paiders are stationed to assist the people, not to restrict human rights."

Sri Lanka police said that three elders fell to the ground while lining up in the hot weather last week.
