(Tokyo News) Japan is stepping up the "unmanned shipping ship" that has been stepping up the use of satellite positioning systems (GPS) and the latest radar at sea, and strives to be put into use in 2025.Next year will be tried on the unmanned container between Tokyo Bay and Ise Bay.

The "DFFAS Project" is committed to the development of unmanned ships, which are mainly Japanese consortia and about 30 domestic companies with cooperation. The surrounding images captured by the camera and the radar will be displayed on the screen of the support center in real time.Unmanned ships are about 100 meters of container ships. They can be controlled by the control lever at hand in an emergency.

After the unmanned ship is set, it will automatically determine the optimal route with reference to GPS, Haitu, Ocean, and past navigation routes.Experienced captains take several hours to formulate routes, and can only be completed in five minutes.Unmanned ships master the position, speed and direction of the surrounding ships, automatically avoid collision, and can also measure the distance between the ship and the pier and adjust the speed of the boat to leave the port safely.

The first unmanned ship in Japan was converted from the shipbuilding company "Sanhe Dock" (Tailao City, Hiroshima Prefecture) to convert the SUZAKU number of the old container ship. It is planned to be completed in February 2022.There are dangerous navigation in the sea where many ships are staggered, and it may suffer a storm and a failure of the ship. Therefore, the center is monitored for 24 hours. To confirm security, there will be about 30 related people at this stage.

The executive director of the Japanese consortium, Haiye Guangxing, said: "Norway and Finland are also promoting the development of unmanned ships. It will bring together many Japanese companies technology."
