(Morning News) The U.S. Department of Defense issued a statement on Monday (19th) that the United States fired a conventional land -based cruise missile in California.

This is the first time that the United States has withdrawn from the Soviet Union and the United States to eliminate the medium and short -range missile treaties (referred to as the mid -to -mid -guide treaty) in the United States.

The statement said that at 2:30 pm on Sunday (18th) local time (at 5:30 am on Monday on Monday, Singapore time), the United States fired a conventional land -based cruise missile on Santa Nicholas Island, California.The missile hit the target after flying more than 500 kilometers.The data obtained by this test will be used for the development of American medium -range missiles in the future.

The Xinhua News Agency reported that the former Soviet Union and the United States signed the China Guide Treaty in 1987, stipulating that the two countries no longer maintain, produce or test the range of land -based cruising missiles, ballistic missiles and launch devices from 500 kilometers to 5,500 kilometers.In February this year, the United States unilaterally launched the withdrawal of the Treaty Procedures.On August 2, both the United States and Russia announced that the Treaty of the Treaty was invalid.On the same day, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that it would fully develop the land -based conventional medium -range missiles restricted by the Treaty of the Central Guide.
