The Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Bastel Institute of France signed a cooperation agreement in 2004 to jointly create the Shanghai Bastend Institute. However, in March of this year, the Pasteur Institute in France issued a statement announced that it would decide to change the cooperative relationship with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and suspend the participation in the activities of the Shanghai Bastend Institute. The Shanghai Bastend Institute will need to change their names.

But the notification also said that, in view of the scientific significance of the Pastend Institute and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the two sides are still determined to continue cooperation. The Bastend Institute will talk to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in order to find a form of cooperation that both sides are satisfied.

It is reported that since the establishment of the Shanghai Bastend Institute 19 years, it has become a leader in the fields of virus, vaccine development and immunology, and has developed hepatitis C, Ebola virus, AIDS, AIDS, AIDSDrugs and vaccines such as viruses and other viruses have trained many influential researchers for China.

Therefore, the actions of the two sides announced the stop of cooperative relationships have caused various speculations. A group of public opinion believes that this may be another sign of China's decoupling in the field of science and technology. However, there are also public opinion that the Chinese government is still committed to carrying out international scientific cooperation, and the Shanghai Barde Institute may be just a case.

The reason for the suspension of the cooperation between China -French scientific research institutions is unclear, but AFP reported that the Barde Institute revealed that the two parties had different differences in the formulation of the management rules of the institute.
