Qatar on Tuesday (June 20) announced that it has signed a 27 -year natural gas supply agreement with China, becoming the longest agreement in the history of the industry.

According to Agence France -Presse, Qatar promises to supply 4 million tons of natural gas to China Petroleum Corporation every year during the agreement period.

This agreement is consistent with the terms reached by Sinopec in November last year with Qatar. It is the second 27 -year supply agreement signed by Qatar and China.

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of Energy, said at the signing ceremony that Qatar will supply natural gas to China through the energy expansion project of the eastern section of the northern gas field.

By expanding, the liquefied natural gas output of the northern gas field will increase at least 60 % by 2027, reaching 126 million tons per year.

PetroChina also signed a separate agreement with Qatar to obtain 5%of the shares of the East Gas Field East Section of the Northern Gas Field. The project can produce 8 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year.

Dai Houliang, chairman of PetroChina, said in the statement: "This laid a solid foundation for the energy cooperation between the two sides in the next three decades."

In April this year, Sinopec also invested in Qatar.Asian companies, which are expanded in the East East of Northern Gas Field, received 5%of the shares and became the first Asian company to invest in the project.

Earlier this month, Qatar also reached a 15 -year supply agreement with Bangladesh; in November last year, Qatar also signed a 15 -year supply agreement with Germany for each year.Germany supply 2 million tons of natural gas.
