China National Space Administration released a high -definition Mars image map taken by Tianwen 1 probe yesterday (4th).On two of the black and white images, some fine white strips aroused some netizens' curiosity: will it be snowing? Why is it white?

Zheng Yongchun, a researcher at the National Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, judged that these white parts are likely to be the reflection light of the Mars dune slope, and it may also contain frost formed by carbon dioxide.

According to the information released by the National Space Administration, black and white images are shot from high -resolution camera 330 kilometers to 350 kilometers from the surface of Mars, with a resolution of about 0.7 meters. The geomorphology is clearly visible.

Zheng Yongchun pointed out that the surface of Mars has formed a dunes from the wind, and its slope reflex light will appear white in the photo. Many small and white strips in the photo are crescent -shaped, and the direction of crescent curved reflects the direction of the wind. The reason why it looks white is actually caused by the excessive exposure of the camera.Due to the uneven surface of Mars on the surface, in order to clear the dark parts, it may cause excessive exposure of the bright place. In fact, these places are not so white.

Zheng Yongchun also believes that the white part in the picture may also contain frost formed after carbon dioxide solidification.

However, Zheng Yongchun said, whether there is a curing carbon dioxide in Tianwen No. 1, which cannot be concluded for the time being.Because this phenomenon will only appear in a low temperature season, and the National Space Administration does not disclose the specific location of the picture shooting, and it is impossible to determine what season the area is in.

In fact, there are many substances on the surface of Mars that may appear white in the photos, such as rock layer exposure, as well as salt and minerals.Zheng Yongchun said that these substances are not ruled out in this photo, but there should be few.
