(Morning News) South Korea's Office said that South Korea is discussing with the United States on strengthening chip manufacturing cooperation methods.
Reuters reported that a Korean presidential office official said on Thursday (July 14): "The United States repeatedly emphasized the importance of chip partners in the supply chain evaluation report last June."However, when asked if South Korea would join the US -led chip alliance, the South Korean President's Office refused to comment.
Sources who quoted Washington's unknown sources said that the US government has asked South Korea to notify it to join the US -led chip alliance by the end of August to cope with the semiconductor supply chain.This region, known as the "Sifang League" (CHIP 4), includes the United States, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
China is South Korea's largest trading partner.According to data from the South Korean International Trade Association, China accounted for 48%of the US $ 69 billion storage chip export in 2021.
