The official website of the Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan reported on Tuesday (December 19) that the Taiwan Army was detected by an empty air balloon in mainland China on December 18th at 9:9:00 on December 18th.The balloon is located about 67 浬 (124 kilometers) in the northwest of Keelung, a flight height of about 15,000 feet (4572 meters). The balloon continues to float east to disappear until 11:52.The Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan stated that the Taiwan Army used aircraft, ships and shore -based missile systems to closely monitor and respond.
However, in the press release issued by the "Military News Agency" affiliated to the Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan on the same day, two empty air balloons were detected on the same time on the same morning.As of the afternoon of the 19th, the official Taiwan officials have not posted any correction information.
On the day before (December 18), the Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan pointed out that a total of two empty air balloons across the strait were detected on December 17.In addition to the 17th, the Taiwan military also notified earlier this month that on December 7th, an empty air balloon in mainland China crossed the central line and disappeared after an hour.
The Taiwan National Defense Minister Qiu Guo emphasized at the time that the Taiwan Army had grasped the situation throughout the process and judged that it may be the air balloon that was blown to Taiwan due to monsoon reasons.
