The Catholic Hong Kong Diocese Zhou Shouren was officially promoted to a cardinal bishop. He went to the Vatican to attend the promotion ceremony on Saturday (September 30).
Comprehensive Hong Kong 01, Reuters, and Ming Pao reported that Zhou Shouren and another 20 new cardinal bishops attended the promotion ceremony that day.After they swore, they knelt in front of the Pope Francis one by one, and were awarded the Red Hat of Cardinal and put on a ring.
Zhou Shouren is the fourth Cardinal of Hong Kong after Hu Zhenzhong, Chen Rijun and Tang Han.
Cardinal is the closest consultant of the Pope in Vatican and other places.Zhou Shouren is 64 years old. He can attend the meeting before the age of 80 and choose the next pope.
