The Hong Kong Education Bureau signed a memorandum of understanding of cooperation with Kazakhstan Science and Higher Education on Thursday (August 17) to strengthen educational cooperation between the two places.

The Hong Kong Government News Office issued a newsletter on Thursday, announcing the above news.The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the director of the Hong Kong Education Bureau.

Cai Ruolian said that this memorandum marks important milestones of Hong Kong and Kazakhstan in educational cooperation.Hong Kong has signed 10 memo with countries along the “Belt and Road” so far, showing that the Hong Kong government is committed to strengthening the education links and exchanges between Hong Kong and countries along the “Belt and Road”, and the determination to develop Hong Kong into a regional education hub.This memorandum will further strengthen educational exchanges and collaboration between the two places.

This memorandum provides a framework for facilitating educational strategies between Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.Mutual measures recorded in the memorandum include professional technical and experience exchanges; exchanges between scholars, teachers, experts, students, and other teaching staff.

After signing the memorandum, Cai Ruolian and the Kazakhstan Student Association of the University of Education and Federation of the University of University to learn about their campus living in Hong Kong and encourage them to stay in Hong Kong to develop their careers after graduation.She said that the Hong Kong Government will continue to take measures to attract outstanding non -local students to go to Hong Kong to enter school.

The Hong Kong Education Bureau has provided the "Belt and Road Scholarship" since the 2016/17 school year, encouraging outstanding students from specific "Belt and Road" countries/regions to Hong Kong to advance to bachelor's degree courses.The scholarship plan has now expanded to cover all countries/regions along the “Belt and Road” and benefit graduate students.With the signing of the memorandum, from the 2024/25 school year, up to 10 Kazakhstan students each year can be awarded a latter.
