The Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong ruled on Monday (June 5) to revoke the conviction and punishment of Cai Yuling's investigation of the former program director of Hong Kong.
Comprehensive Hong Kong 01 and Ming Daily reported that Cai Yuling was accused of reporting a false statement in order to obtain a false statement of vehicle registration in July 21, 2019San, fined 6,000 Hong Kong dollars (S $ 1034).Cai Yuling appealed twice afterwards.
The appellant earlier emphasized on the Court of Final Appeal that the news interview was not a false statement, and said that the reporter had a long history. The program involved in the case was serious and rigorous.
Cai Yuling said after hearing that she believed that the ruling was a good news for the press, and believed that the ruling clearly pointed out that speech and the freedom of press were guaranteed by the Constitution.
