China officially announced that, despite the influence of unfavorable factors such as floods and drought, China's total grain output this year still increased by 1.3%over the previous year, breaking the record of 13,731 catties of total output in 2022, and hitting a record high.

The National Bureau of Statistics of China posted on Monday (December 11) on the official website that the total food output of the country in 2023 was 1390.82 billion kg, which has been stable at 1.3 trillion kg for nine consecutive years.

Specifically, this year China's grain sowing area increased by 9.546 million mu, an increase of 0.5%; the production of grain per mu increased by 2.9 kg, an increase of 0.8%; the total grain output increased by 17.76 billion kg, an increase of 1.3%.

From the perspective of crop types, the output of corn, beans and potatoes increases, while wheat and rice output have decreased.From the perspective of regions, 27 of the 31 provinces and regions and cities in China have increased production.Among them, Xinjiang's newly added farming area and sowing area increased significantly, an increase of 6.11 billion kilograms; Shandong, Jilin, Sichuan, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, and Anhui have increased grain production of more than 1 billion kg.
