Jin Tielin was born in a medical family in Harbin in 1940.In 1960, Jin Tielin was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music. He studied with a singer and vocal educator Professor Shen Xiang. After graduation, he entered the Central Orchestra and became a singer.

In 1981, the Chinese Academy of Music recovered, and Jin Tielin chose to enter the Department of Vocal.Compared with a person who gets flowers on the stage to get applause, he believes that vocal education can cultivate more singers and more valuable.

In the years of vocal teaching practice, he created the "seven -character standard" of national vocal music.
