Eastern European countries Latvia and Estonia have withdrawn from the cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries on Thursday (August 11).

According to Reuters, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia explained that it continues to participate in the cooperation mechanism and no longer meet Latvia's strategic goals in the current international environment.

The cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries was established in 2012. Participants include China and 17 Central and Eastern European countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Czech Republic.

Lithuania decided to withdraw from the cooperation mechanism last year.As Latvia and Estonia have also decided to withdraw, which means that all three countries in the Baltic Sea have withdrawn from the cooperation mechanism.
