The Taiwan Foreign Affairs Ministry announced on the official website on Sunday (9th) that Santiago Pena was invited by the Taiwan government to visit Taiwan from July 11th to 15th.Taiwan Tsai Ing -wen and Vice President Lai Qingde will meet with Pena and set up banquets, and will exchange opinions on Taiwan -Pakistan cooperation and joint concerns.
Pena will also meet with Taiwan Foreign Minister Wu Zhaozheng, Minister of Economy Wang Meihua and Minister of Health Welfare Xue Ruiyuan.He will also visit the Taiwan World Outlook for Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Consortium to conduct industrial symposiums and cultural facilities.
According to Reuters, Pena said on Twitter that he would visit Abu Dhabi first, then went to Taiwan to meet with Tsai Ing -wen, and described Tsai Ing -wen as a good friend.
Paraguay is one of Taiwan's 13 diplomatic relations, and the only diplomatic country in South America.According to the Taiwan Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pena visited a long distance before his inauguration, coinciding with the 66th anniversary of the Taiwan -Pakistan -Pakistani diplomatic relations on July 12, which was of great significance to deepen the traditional friendship between the two places.
Pena will take an oath on August 15.Foreign sources told Reuters that Lai Qingde might attend the inauguration ceremony as a representative of Taiwan. During his time to Paraguay, he passed the United States to meet with American officials.
