(Taipei News) Officials from the US and Taiwan security departments reported on how Taiwan companies have adopted issues such as US defense supply chain standards in the United States.
Bloomberg quoted an anonymous Taiwan senior official that the Taiwan ’s Digital Development Department’ s Ministry of Development ’s Government Affairs Headhiro River met with the representative of the National Standard and Technology Research Institute (NIST) at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of San Francisco in April. It is described that this is a "relatively rare" meeting.
The aforementioned Taiwanese officials said that the meeting at the working level was organized by the United States Association (AIT) in Taiwan, discussing the possibility of Taiwanese enterprises adopting the US government network security standard NIST 800-171.NIST said that the standard aims to ensure that "controlling non -confidential information" data is kept confidential.
U.S. defense contractors usually need to comply with a series of key network security standards, including the latest version of the network security maturity model certification (CMMC), which aims to protect sensitive information. The United States is in Japan and South Korea in this region, such as Japan and South Korea, and has pushed local defense companies to seek CMMC certification.
It is reported that once Taiwanese companies adopt the standards of US defense supply chain, it will strengthen the security connection between the two governments, which may trigger Beijing's dissatisfaction.
The Digital Development Department of Taiwan confirmed that Qihe Ming met with officials of NIST. During his trip, he also participated in a safety affairs meeting held in San Francisco and met with major technology companies.
The Taiwan delegation, which meets the US personnel together with Qian Heming, consists of nearly 20 officials and information security and national defense researchers. The two sides also discussed issues such as 5G communication and near -ground track satellites.
Tang Feng, the Minister of Development of Taiwan, said in an interview last month that Taiwan was preparing for the worst situation of the exterior of Taiwan's communication and power lines that broke out of the two sides of the strait.
