French President Macron emphasized that the French position has remained unchanged on the Taiwan issue, supporting the status quo, and will not become the vassal of the United States in this subject.
Comprehensive Agence France -Presse and Reuters reported that Macron said on a press conference during the visit to the Netherlands on Wednesday (April 12): "Being an allies does not mean that it is to become a vassal ... it does not mean that we do not have the right to think independently."
Macron also said: "France and Europe have the same position on the issue of Taiwan. We support the status quo. This policy remains unchanged."
He was interviewed by European and American media earlier that he should not be involved in a crisis driven by the American rhythm and excessive response from mainland China in Taiwan.
European and American politicians and commentators criticized Macron's remarks. Former US President Trump pointed out that he shot Kissing ASS.
A senior diplomat who is unwilling to name also said that Macron would not recover the remarks or apologize for it.
