American media quoted people familiar with the matter. Senior Chinese officials were informed that the CCP investigation found that former Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang had been married during his tenure as ambassador to the United States.

The Wall Street Journal quoted on Tuesday (September 19) that people familiar with the matter said that senior Chinese officials, including ministers and provincial leaders, listened to the CCP's notice of Qin Gang's investigation last month.They were told that Qin Gang's formal reason was the issue of life style.

The report quoted two people familiar with the matter and said that these officials were also informed that the investigation found that Qin Gang had extramarital affairs and therefore had a child born in the United States.

People familiar with the matter also revealed that some of the reasons for Qin Gang's dismissal is that children born in the United States may damage his ability to replace China when dealing with Americans.

According to people familiar with the matter, the investigation continued under the cooperation of Qin Gang. The current focus is whether this extramarital affairs and other behaviors may damage China's national security.

Qin Gang served as the Chinese ambassador to the United States from July 2021 to January this year, and was promoted to the Chinese Foreign Minister in the Ambassador to the United States in December last year.

Starting in late June this year, Qin Gang disappeared from the public view, and was removed from the post of foreign ministers in late July. Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, replaced the post of foreign ministers, but Qin Gang still retained the position of State Councilor.Chinese officials have not given any explanation for Qin Gang to be exempted from the foreign minister.
