OPPO, the largest smartphone manufacturer in China, closed its chip design business.
Comprehensive Bloomberg and 21st Century Business Herald reported on Friday (May 12) that OPPO will terminate the business of its main chip design capabilities Zheu (ZEKU).
OPPO said that in the face of the uncertainty of the global economy and mobile phone market, after careful consideration, the company decided to terminate the Zheku business."This is a difficult decision. Zheku is OPPO's chip designEstablished in 2019, the legal representative is OPPO CTO Liu Jun.The company aims to carry out work in accordance with the idea similar to the internal chip department of Apple.The company is divided into three major teams, including NPU chip center, baseband chip center, and WiFi Bluetooth chip center.
According to Zheku's official website, the company has branches in Shanghai, Xi'an, Beijing, and Chengdu, of which Shanghai is the main R & D base of Zheku.According to the company's registered data platform Tianyan check data, Zheku Shanghai Branch has nearly 200 patents, many of which are related to semiconductor.
