According to Lianhe News, the Canadian court held a hearing on the 7th (local time) to accept the bail hearing on Meng Wanzhou, vice chairman and chief financial officer of China's Huawei.Canadian prosecutors stated that Meng Wanzhou may have absconded and cannot be released on bail.The hearing is currently in progress.

Canadian prosecutors stated that the United States had issued an arrest warrant as early as August this year, requesting the Canadian side to cooperate, and it was not approved by the relevant Canadian authorities until November this year.He pointed out that Meng Wanzhou happened to enter the country and transit, so he was arrested immediately.It was also reported that the ban on reporting on Meng Wanzhou had been lifted.

From 2009 to 2014, Huawei allegedly used a subsidiary called Skycom to conduct business in Iran in violation of U.S. and European sanctions against Iran, prosecutors said.The U.S. Department of Justice has verified that Huawei is Skycom and accused Huawei of fraud.It is reported that SkyCom is headquartered in Hong Kong.

Meng Wanzhou is accused of serving as Skycom's chief financial officer, and is suspected of misleading Bank of America to engage in business that conflicts with sanctions against Iran.

Canadian prosecutors said Meng Wanzhou should be remanded in custody pending extradition to the United States because she may jump bail and abscond.

Meng Wanzhou is the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei.She was arrested by Canadian authorities on December 1 when she was transiting a flight in Vancouver. According to reports, she was transiting from Hong Kong to Mexico.
