The Pacific Fleet said that the full name of this solid -state laser weapon is the Laser Weapon System Demonstrator, which is developed by the US Navy Research Office and Northrup Grumman.The maritime demonstration carried out by the Portland amphibious transportation dock ship is the first system test conducted by this high -energy -level solid -state laser weapon.

The Pacific Fleet said that the naval ships are facing more and more threats, including the threats of drones, armed small speedboats, and enemy intelligence, supervision and reconnaissance systems.
