Two informed officials revealed that the Taiwan government is investigating a leakage incident of official confidential documents. The leaked documents include foreign telecommunications and confidential reports on the application of Taiwan ’s application for the comprehensive progress agreement (CPTPP).
According to Reuters on Friday (July 21), the recent online forum 8KUN has appeared confidential documents of the Taiwan government, including a CPTPP that is said to be the National Security Bureau of Taiwan's highest intelligence agency last October last year.The confidential "security assessment" is performed.
In addition, the leaked documents also include the Taiwan and Vietnamese representatives in Japan and Vietnam's diplomatic telegrams for applying for CPTPP in mainland China and Taiwan, as well as another confidential report on the 21st Century Taiwan -US trade initiative.
It is currently impossible to confirm the authenticity of these files.A familiarity official said that the preliminary investigation showed that some leakage documents were true, but some were fake.Another informed official said they could not immediately determine the source of these leaks.
The Taiwan National Security Bureau confirmed in an interview with Reuters that Taiwan is investigating the suspected leakage of confidential documents.
Taiwan and mainland China have applied to join CPTPP in 2021, and the Beijing government has long been based on a Chinese principle and opposes Taiwan to join international organizations such as the United Nations.
There are currently 11 members of CPTPP, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.Britain also officially joined CPTPP on the 16th of this month.
