Japanese media reported that the Taiwan Style Circuit Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) plans to invest more than 1 trillion yen (about S $ 10 billion) to build a second chip manufacturer in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.

The Japanese Industry News reported on Friday (February 24) that TSMC's second chip manufacturer built in Japan is expected to be completed in the late 2020s and will use a 5 -nanometer or 10 nanometer process.TSMC's first chip manufacturer of Japan is also located in Kumamoto, and is expected to be launched at the end of 2024.

It is reported that TSMC is negotiating for government funding and customer investment. The details are estimated to be determined by the end of this year.

TSMC, the world's most advanced chip manufacturer, is sought after by the governments of many countries in the United States and Japan, seeking TSMC to produce chips in their national factories.Washington has provided more than $ 50 billion (about S $ 67.1 billion) to subsidies to TSMC in the US factory, and Japan is expected to provide similar funding.
