Since this year, five Hong Kong overseas have left the judges, including Cen Yaoxin, Hao Lianshi, Ji Lixin and McLarin.Zhang Guojun, deputy director of the Hong Kong Department of Justice, said that these judges have different reasons, but have nothing to do with Hong Kong's rule of law environment.
Comprehensive Sing Tao Daily and Wireless News reported that Zhang Guojun said on Saturday (October 5) that overseas judges have made great contributions to the rule of law in Hong Kong. They all give justice and affirmation of Hong Kong's rule of law.
In response to many overseas judges, Zhang Guojun said that they have different reasons for their departure, some are personal reasons, some may not be explained, and some may be with some foreign political environment. It is related to geopolitical issues, but the departure of these judges has nothing to do with the environment of the rule of law in Hong Kong.
Regarding the resignation, the judge wrote that the rule of law was criticized for damage to the rule of law. Zhang Guojun said that these are just individual people who do not need to take it to the heart because of the reasons or considerations behind them. But for the "bad" remarks, the Hong Kong government will not "cover the ears" and change it, but if there is no basis for criticism, it will refute.
He emphasized that the judges of the judiciary or the legal system of Hong Kong still maintain a very good performance, hoping that the public has been "confident" of the rule of law environment that Hong Kong has always cherished.Even if there is no overseas judge in the future, it will never affect the judicial and Hong Kong rule of law.
