The dispute settlement expert group of the World Trade Organization (WTO) believes that China ’s anti -dumping tax on Japanese stainless steel products violates the WTO agreement, and it is recommended that China corrects it.

According to a report from Japan, the expert group issued a report on Monday (June 19) that Japan's exported products exported to China were insufficiently determined to have the influence on Chinese products. The cause and effect of industrial damage is not clear.

Japan's Ministry of Economic and Products revealed that China did not show their willingness to appeal. It is expected that the report will be approved at the WTO dispute resolution agency (DSB) conference held within 60 days.Once passed, China will be obliged to comply with suggestions to correct it.

China has imposed tariffs of 18.1-29.0%of Japanese hot-rolled steel plates such as the dumping of stainless steel products imported from Japan and other places in China, which caused damage to domestic industries. The Japanese side estimates that the annual sales will be reduced by about 5.6 billion yen (about S $ 53 million).

The Japanese government made a request for bilateral negotiations based on the WTO agreement in June 2021.Due to the failure to solve the problem, the WTO set up an expert group in September of the same year.
