The first plenary meeting of the 11th Committee of the China Overseas Chinese Federation was held on Saturday (September 2) in Beijing. Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Nanjing University of the Communist Party of China, was elected vice chairman of the Overseas Chinese Federation.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the meeting elected Wan Lijun as the new chairman of the Chinese Overseas Chinese Federation with unknown voting., Wu Jing (female), Wu Xiangyan, Yu Guochun, Chen Jieying (female, Zhuang), Gao Feng, Guo Zhan, Guo Qimin, Liang Mou, Cheng Hong (female), Cheng Xueyuan, Tan Tieniu as the vice chairman, Chen Mai is the secretary general.

According to public information, Tan Tieniu was born in October 1963, and was born in Chaling, Hunan. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1984, and in 1986 and 1989, he received a master's degree in the British Empire Institute of Technology and doctoral degrees.

Tan Tieniu worked at Reading University in the UK from 1989-1997, returned to work in China in 1998.Dean and deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Tan Tieniu is currently the secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University. He is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a foreign academician of the Royal Institute of Engineering, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and a foreign academician of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
