According to the official WeChat "Chongqing Release" of the Propaganda Department of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress of Chongqing voted on Sunday (January 8), and decided to accept Dong Jianguo's resignation to the position of deputy mayor of Chongqing City.It was reported to the next meeting of the Chongqing People's Congress for the record, and decided to avoid the position of director of Dong Jianguo's Chongqing Development and Reform Commission.

Dong Jianguo is 55 years old. He has graduated from the Department of Journalism of Sichuan University in Heze, Shandong. He has never left Chongqing.

Dong Jianguo served as the Chongqing Land and Resources System in his early years. He used to be the director of the Housing Reform Policy Office of the Municipal Land Resources and Housing Management Bureau, the director of the office, and the deputy director.He is the director of the Municipal Land, Resources and Housing Administration.

During the reform of the Chongqing Municipal Government Institution in 2018, the new Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau will no longer retain the Municipal Land, Resources and Housing Management Bureau. Dong Jianguo has become the first director of the Chongqing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau.In April 2020, Dong Jianguo replaced Zheng Xiangdong, who was promoted to the deputy governor of Chongqing City, served as the director of the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission. In June of the same year, he also served as the director of the Municipal Grain Bureau.In August 2022, he was promoted to deputy mayor.
