They were both alternate members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
In addition, Zhang Guangjun, who was transferred from the president of Southeast University last November to the deputy minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology. In the past year, three university presidents have entered the leadership team of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
