(Hong Kong Comprehensive News) Li Shaoguang, former director of the Hong Kong Security Bureau, died on Sunday (August 14) at the age of 73.

Comprehensive Sing Tao.com and Hong Kong 01 reported that Li Shaoguang died in his sleep on Sunday morning.Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao and Director of the Security Bureau Deng Bingqiang both expressed their condolences to Li Shaoguang's death.

Li Shaoguang joined the People's Entry Department in 1974 and became the director of the people's entry.Subsequently, he was appointed as the assistant director of the Immigration Department in 1995. He was appointed as the Deputy Director in 1997, and was appointed as the Director of the Immigration Department in October the following year.

Li Shaoguang was appointed by the then Chief Executive Dong Jianhua in July 2002 as a clerical commissioner, and became the first integrity commissioner to be born by disciplinary forces.In August 2003, Li Shaoguang replaced Ye Liu Shuyi, who resigned as the director of the Security Bureau.

Li Shaoguang has worked in the government for 38 years and retired in 2012.
