The Wall Street Journal quoted a number of people familiar with the matter on March 4 that China will appoint the former central bank's senior official Li Bo as the vice president of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Li Bo has deep American experience.The Chinese authorities are currently seeking to restore Sino -US relations and get greater right to speak at the IMF.

Sources said Li Bo will replace Zhang Tao, the current Vice President of the IMF.Li Bo is currently the deputy mayor of Chongqing.

Li Bo is a senior of the People's Bank of China and has participated in drafting key regulations on money laundering, cross -border transactions and credit reports.

The Wall Street Journal said that Li Bo's latest appointment may be announced quickly after this year's National People's Congress.
