The British Financial Times quoted sources as saying that Hui Control initiated lobbying activities to persuade the Chinese government that Hui Control should not be held responsible on the arrest of Meng Wanzhou.
John Flint, CEO of Hui Control, and other senior representatives told Chinese officials that the US Department of Justice asked Hui Control to provide information about Huawei. The exchange control could only cooperate with the investigation.
It is reported that Fan Ning's meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to the UK earlier this year defended the cooperation between the Hui Control and the Ministry of Justice.
